LEGO gifts Wimbledon winner Krejcikova a brick-built surprise
Wimbledon winner Barbora Krejcikova has been given not one but two trophies for her triumph in the women’s singles.
Just before taking home the trophy for the women’s singles at Wimbledon 2024, Czech tennis player Barbora Krejcikova shared online and in interviews that she enjoyed building LEGO sets in her downtime. Now, the LEGO Group has reached out to the Wimbledon champion with a brick-built gift, tied to her recent achievement.
Krejcikova took to social media to share the LEGO version of the Wimbledon trophy. It appears to be made largely of light grey bricks, with bright yellow and flame yellowish orange elements to recreate the tarnishing on the silver salver. The LEGO dish is larger than the real one and includes ‘2024’ on the top rim, to commemorate the year of Krejcikova’s success. She also received a tiny minifigure version of herself and a brick-built tennis racquet, complete with strings.
Each part of the LEGO gift looks impressively authentic. Considering it’s been just a few days since Krejcikova won her final on July 13, the LEGO Group either mocked up the design very quickly or had it planned for the eventuality that the LEGO fan would become a Wimbledon champion. Either way, it’s a fun extra treat from the Wimbledon champion – and she appears just as pleased with the brick-built trophy as the real one.
