LEGO Minifigures Series 26 Space buying guide

With the release date for LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71047 Series 26 Space coming up, here’s a buying guide ahead of the big day – as well as pre-order details to get ahead of the game.

Any classic or modern LEGO Space fan will be itching to get their hands on the upcoming LEGO Collectible Minifigure series: 71046 Series 26 Space. Between deep cuts back into brick-built space lore and modern quirky takes on potential space-exploring characters, there’s something for everyone in the latest addition to the theme.

With the continuation of blind boxes, if you’ve got your heart set on a particular minifigure, Brick Search is back and ready to help you find the specific character you’re looking for. Scanning the QR code-like symbols, called data matrix codes, with the Brick Search app scanner reveals what’s inside the box without the need to open it first, making for a stress-free shopping experience.

Of course, before you can start scanning to find your favourites, you’ll need to compile your dream shopping experience. Here’s a closer look at each of the 12 minifigures in more detail, as well as a list of retailers for the UK, the US, and Europe at the bottom of the page.

Blacktron Mutant

Blacktron Mutant is a callback to one of the first two LEGO Space factions, Blacktron II, first introduced in 1991. The minifigurere re-imagines the classic Blacktron character by making it a mutant, complete with one green leg and two green arms on his right-hand side, along with a split face print to match. These unusually printed minifigure parts are well worth a second look. Plus, this minifigure is a must for any long-term Blacktron collector, rounding off a complete collection with this modern addition.

Ice Planet Explorer

Another return to classic LEGO Space,Ice Planet Explorer does its best to recapture the magic of the retired sub-theme, even making up for the lack of trans-neon-orange elements with a trans-orange chainsaw and orange printed visors on both the minifigure and her penguin sidekick. If you’ve been feeling the lack of Ice Planet LEGO sets, let this minifigure scratch some of that itch for you in the meantime.

Imposter

Imposter is one of the more creative characters in 71046 Series 26 Space, featuring a minifigure that’s actually being ‘controlled’ by a tiny microfigure alien. The unique face print can be turned around to look like a ‘real’ face and the attention to detail is particularly impressive, with tiny brown ‘screws’ printed on the torso and legs, as it the entire minifigure is held together like a robot.

Robot Butler

If the handy accessories didn’t grab you, the uniquely printed face and unusual leg element will – if you can call them legs. Robot Butler is weird and wonderful from his green orb to his hydraulic feet and well worth picking up. As a fairly standalone character, he’s a great minifigure to pick up if you’re not interested in the full set: quirky enough to grab attention, without needing plenty more space-themed builds around him to make sense.

Alien Beetlezoid

Bringing with him a vibrant colour scheme, Alien Beetlezoid’s most unique feature is the beetle-style head, something we’re surely not going to see in many other minifigures or sets. Complete with pincers on the front, the minifigure also has a curved shell-like element on its back, adding to the overall beetle effect. Space fan or not, the vibrancy and unique accessories of Alien Beetlezoid make it a stand-out among an overall very impressive LEGO Collectible Minifigures series.

Retro Space Heroine

Speaking of funky colours, Retro Space Heroine is easily the brightest of them all, kitted out in purple, pink, and blue, with gold accents throughout. Her colour scheme even translates into her dog, with pink eyes to match the outfit. While Retro Space Heroine might be one of the more generic minifigures from this series, the fact that she’s perhaps the least interesting addition to 71406 Series 26 Space says a lot about the upcoming release.

Nurse Android

All we really need to say about Nurse Android is: pink space baby. Enough said?

Even if you don’t want the pink space baby to complete your collection of space people, Nurse Android herself also brings some cool features, from an easily-reusable blue hairpiece to a face print that we can tell whether it’s aesthetic or spooky. Either way, we’re loving the colours and the space baby accessory makes Nurse Android a must-have from 71046 Series 26 Space.

Flying Saucer Costume Fan

If you’ve read this far, you’re surely a LEGO Space fan, making this minifigure with star-printed torso and legs an absolute must for your collection. He is quite literally space on legs, capped off with a green head surrounded by a flying saucer hat. You don’t get space-ier than this.

M-Tron Powerlifter

Another classic LEGO Space callback, this time to M-Tron, a sub-theme that ran from 1990 and ended with Blacktron in 1993. Known for its vehicles with red hulls, grey trim, and neon-green canopies, a similar colour scheme can be found in M-Tron Powerlifter, kitted out with a heavy-looking backpack that could be some kind of flame thrower, judging from the gauge and apparatus he’s holding.

Alien Tourist

We might have said previous minifigures are fun and creative but Alien Tourist takes the top spot in both categories. Tourists with silly ‘I Heart’ T-shirts and oversized cameras might be annoying on Earth but they’re straight-up adorable when they’re aliens sporting brightly-coloured Panama hats and Hawaiian shirts. It’s a thumbs-up all-round for Alien Tourist, so make sure to be scanning for him first.

Orion

Similar to Flying Saucer Costume Fan, Orion has enough space-themed minifigure parts to make him a must-find, even if you’re only harvesting him for trans-purple elements. His shield alone is unique and sure to be a popular one to collect, so keep your eyes peeled for Orion when 71046 Series 26 Space hits shelves.

Spacewalking Astronaut

Spacewalking Astronaut does what it says on the tin. The minifigure has everything it needs to travel through space, including an opaque golden visor and some control panels built into the spacesuit itself. While not the most creative minifigure from 71046 Series 26 Space, building up a mini army of these would certainly make for an awe-inspiring space-themed display.
